Identifying where the heart of the house is, gives clues about where a project should swirl around. When the owner of the house is a cook, there is no doubt, the house will always swirl around a kitchen island.
Kitchen is the place to cook, meet, share, eat, talk. For cooks the kitchen owns the soul of the home because is where they made what they love, and they share it. The renovation of this apartment was about making a kitchen that contains everything a cook may need to receive and entertain guests: a living room, a dining room, a gathering place and of course all the cooking fixtures for a chef.
To create a warm and cozy atmosphere was the other main requirement. We used a warm colours and material palette going from a natural wooden floor and blush shades of rose for walls and tiles, to a burgundy red for the kitchen island and cabinets – that glows in the centre of the apartment as the beating coure.
A carefully chosen lighting to create different environments was the final touch for this bright and quiet renovation within the vibrant artistic area of Carabanchel in Madrid.
